Kootenay Columbia MP won't seek re-election

In a surprise announcement Kootenay Columbia Conservative MP Jim Abbott says he won't be running in the next election.    

He sent a letter to Prime Minister Stephen Harper informing him of his decision saying he wants to spend more time with his wife, kids and seven grandchildren.

Abbott was first elected in 1993 as one of the original members of the Reform Party...he went on to win 6 elections in total.
