Funding for former CPR building in Nelson
The Nelson and District Chamber of Commerce, can begin reconstruction on the old CPR Station, thanks to a 3-hundred thousand dollar funding announcement by the Columbia Basin Trust.
The historic landmark at the foot of Baker Street will become a full service Regional Visitor Information Centre and interpretive display..it will also house the new offices for the Chamber, the Nelson Economic Development Partnership and the Regional Destination Marketing Organization.
The money will allow for immediate re-roofing of the building to prevent further structural damage, and construction of the public washrooms and interior renovation work can also begin.
Renovations are expected to be complete by 2013.
