A local environmental group says they believe the BC government will soon push through a plan allowing wolves to be shot from helicopters, something a provincial panel claims will save mountain caribou.
Valhalla Wilderness Society spokesperson Anne Sherrod says she worries the government approach will harm wolves, caribou and even humans.
Sherrod adds there have been very few herd studies, including the Kootenays own Selkirk herd, so the actual impact wolves have on mountain caribou is unknown.
